About Cafe au Lait
Hot coffee mixed with hot milk in equal parts. Distinct from a latte in that it uses brewed coffee, not espresso, and no foam. Traditionally served in a wide bowl in France for dunking croissants. The chicory coffee version is a New Orleans tradition. Beignets and cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde is a pilgrimage.
