About Tsipouro
Greek pomace brandy, similar to Italian grappa. Monks on Mount Athos first distilled it in the 14th century. Made from the pressed grape skins, seeds, and stems left after winemaking. Some versions are flavored with anise. Served chilled in small glasses with meze. The Cretan version is called tsikoudia or raki.
