Turkish anise-flavored spirit, the national drink. Made from distilled grapes and aniseed. Turns milky white when mixed with water, called the lions milk. Traditionally consumed with melon and white cheese. Over 60 million liters consumed annually in Turkey. Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, was famously fond of it.
