Considered the original cocktail, first documented in 1880. Made with bourbon or rye whiskey, sugar, bitters, and citrus peel. The name came from customers ordering a cocktail the old-fashioned way. Don Drapers signature drink in Mad Men revived its popularity. Winston Churchills mother may have popularized it.
