About Mai Tai
Created by Trader Vic in Oakland, California. The name means good in Tahitian. Originally made with 17-year-old Jamaican rum. Trader Vic rival Don the Beachcomber claimed he invented it first. The tiki drink became a symbol of mid-century American escapism. The original was not bright blue or overly sweet.
