Hojicha
About Hojicha
Roasted Japanese green tea with a reddish-brown color and smoky aroma. Invented in Kyoto in the 1920s as a way to use older tea leaves and stems. The roasting process reduces caffeine to about 20% of regular green tea. Safe to drink before bed. Has a naturally sweet, caramel-like flavor. Often served to children and the elderly in Japan.
