About Chai Latte
Western adaptation of Indian masala chai made with steamed milk. Popularized by Starbucks and coffee shop culture in the 1990s. Much sweeter than authentic Indian chai. Uses concentrate or syrup rather than fresh spices. Called a dirty chai with a shot of espresso added. The global chai latte market is worth over 500 million dollars.
