Gin, maraschino liqueur, creme de violette, and lemon juice. Named for the pale sky-blue color. First appeared in Hugo Ensslins 1916 Recipes for Mixed Drinks. The creme de violette was unavailable for decades, making the drink impossible to make authentically until Rothman and Orchard reintroduced it.
