About Absinthe
Called the Green Fairy for its emerald color. Banned in many countries from 1910-2000 due to thujone fears. Wormwood gives it the characteristic bitter anise flavor. Van Gogh, Hemingway, and Toulouse-Lautrec were devotees. The modern version has regulated thujone levels. The ritual involves dripping water over a sugar cube.
