About Sahlep
A hot milk drink thickened with orchid root powder. The name comes from Arabic sahlab. The orchid tubers are dried and ground into a fine powder. Served with cinnamon on top. Popular throughout Turkey in winter. The thick, creamy texture is unique. Wild orchid harvesting has made genuine sahlep expensive and rare.
