About Port Wine
Fortified wine from the Douro Valley in Portugal. Brandy is added during fermentation, preserving sweetness. Over 80 grape varieties are permitted. Vintage port is only declared in exceptional years, about 3 per decade. The British have been the primary market since the 1700s.
