Scotch comes from five regions: Islay for smoke, Speyside for elegance, Highlands for body, Lowlands for lightness, Campbeltown for power. Irish whiskey is triple-distilled for smoothness. Bourbon must be 51% corn in charred new oak.

Japanese whisky was built on Scottish tradition but achieved its own perfection. Each region is a world unto itself..
